Epic Solutions utilizes Headspace-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry to accurately identify and measure all residual solvents required by CA for compliance. Residual Solvents testing is required for all non-flower products sold in California, including but not limited to: concentrates, tinctures, infused pre-rolls, and vape carts. Residual Solvents are split into two types: category I and II, with I being the more dangerous to human health and appropriately having a lower acceptable limit of 1.0 ug/g.

Category I:

1,2-Dichloroethane

Benzene

Chloroform

Ethylene oxide

Trichloroethene

Methylene chloride

Category II:

Acetone

Acetonitrile

n-Butane

Ethanol

Ethyl acetate

Diethyl ether

n-Heptane

2-Propanol

Methanol

n-Hexane

n-Pentane

Propane

// ABOUT RESIDUAL SOLVENTS

A pair of crossed scissors on a white background.

Residual solvents are often left over from the process chemicals used to extract cannabinoids. These solvents are not completely removed by many manufacturing techniques and can remain in the final product. Their presence must be controlled and minimized due to potential health risks. Residual solvents can pose health hazards especially through the inhalation route of exposure.
